Scott completed the piece on September 12, 2013 and posted it to his Pinterest, Facebook and DeviantART pages that same day. It was posted to his Instagram page on February 19, 2021.
Subject and title[]
The characters depicted in the piece are from animated series' that ran in the 1990's. It features Goliath from Gargoyles, Wildwing Flashblade from Mighty Ducks: The Animated Series and Darkwing Duck from Darkwing Duck. All three of those cartoons were owned by Disney and considered action/adventure series. Those particular characters were the main characters in those series.
Those three cartoons ran during the "Disney Afternoon" two-hour block of cartoons weekday afternoons.
Since the three characters were action heroes from the "Disney Afternoon" animation block, Disney Afternoon action heroes seemed like a fitting title.

Scott started out with a pencil sketch, then inked the final line work. He then scanned the drawing and colored it digitally in Paint Shop Pro.
